St. Bonaventure's varsity
esports is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).
SBU student-gamers have the opportunity to hone their skills in the NACE Varsity division against other NACE member schools.
Throughout the course of the regular season, our teams compete in conference play with the goal of posting a winning record in order to qualify for Varsity playoffs. Ultimately, our teams strive to win divisional, conference and grand finals championships.
Welcome to The Game Room
The varsity esports teams have a dedicated gaming space on the second floor of the university's Reilly Center. Known as The Game Room, the space is undergoing a state-of-the-art transformation that will be complete by the start of fall semester 2023.
The Game Room includes two Xbox One setups, two PS4 setups, two Nintendo Switch setups and 6 Intel Core i7-9700KF | GeForce RTX 2070 | 16 GB computers. All are available and free for any student to use.
There are varsity team practices and matches for our League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant and Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate teams, all taking place in The Game Room.
Practices consist of video on demand (VOD) reviewing of professional players, detailed mechanical analysis and instruction, scrimmages against other schools, and occasional weightlifting and cardio workouts in the university's Richter Center fitness facility
Student gamers receive jerseys and access to additional coaching resources provided by Gamer Sensei, a world-class leader in the development of student gamers aspiring to improve and compete at an elite level.
Meet Head Coach Christian Greer
Christian Greer was named head coach of the St. Bonaventure varsity esports program in 2022. He was previously the assistant Esports coach at Kean University, where he coached and managed the university's Rainbow Six Siege team, Call of Duty: Vanguard
team, and Fortnite team.
Greer is also a Training Grounds coach at Cloud9. He coaches advanced Fortnite Training Grounds courses to students from ages 13-18, teaching them advanced fundamentals, conducting VOD reviews, arranging scrimmages and recruiting prospective students
to enroll in the C9TG program.
Greer is committed to not only developing players' skills and abilities, but helping them develop strong character traits as well.
