RUGBY SCHOLARSHIPS & SUPPORT AT SBU
St. Bonaventure women’s rugby was established in 1998 and has grown into one of the leading clubs in the region with success in both 15s and 7s.
The Bonnies play in the Upstate NY Collegiate Rugby Conference, facing nationally ranked competition on a regular basis. The 15s season is during the fall semester, and the team has amassed a record of 15-5 over the
past three seasons.
During spring semester the team focuses on physical and skill development in January and February, with 7s competition in March and April.
This past spring, we won our inaugural St. Bonaventure 7s tournament
and finished in the Top 10 at the National Small College championship.
Along with our on-field success, the benefits of playing for the Bonnies include:
- Championship strength coach and full-time trainer to make sure you’re playing at your best.
- Full-time coaching, supporting the development of national-level players, and leaders in all professional fields.
- Access to our state-of-the-art weight room and turf field. Come play under the lights!
You can be a part of the next generation of St. Bonaventure women’s rugby players and help us continue to represent our program and university at the highest level. If you are a high school rugby player, or an athlete looking to try a new sport
at the college level, we want to tell you more about our unique approach to developing student-athletes and growing as a team. Two recent highlights are:
- We achieved a 3.4 team GPA with graduates headed to medical school, law school, the military, and jobs across the country;
- Team Captains Emily Sion and Kelly DeGrood played at CRCs with the NSCRO 7s team, and faced the USA U20 Eagles with NSCRO 15s.
