In addition to personal items to make your room feel like a home away from home, we encourage students to review this list when packing to come to campus: what to bring to campus.

We also suggest students to contact their roommate to discuss sharing larger items, like the refrigerator or TV.

How many students live on campus?

St. Bonaventure University is a residential campus with 97% of freshmen living on campus. Campus housing can accommodate approximately 1,700 students. 

Are single rooms available?

Yes, there are single occupancy rooms depending on availability. Single rooms are available to upperclassmen that choose to live in Devereux and Francis Hall.

How do I choose a roommate?

We highly suggest joining the Facebook page for admitted incoming students. There you will be able to connect with your classmates. You can also connect with fellow students at accepted student events and summer orientation. 

All incoming freshmen receive a Housing Survey & Preference Form typically in early June. On this form, students can indicate a specific roommate they want to live with.

A student also has an option to select a random roommate. If a student selects a random roommate, they will answer a series a personality and lifestyle preferences and along with their academic major, they will be assigned a roommate. hen will I know my room assignment?

Room assignments will be mailed out in early August. If you do not receive a room assignment in the mail please, contact us at (716) 375-2512. 

What is a Resident Assistant?

Resident Assistants (RA) are upperclassmen (sophomore, junior, senior or graduate students) who are hired by the Office of Residence Life to serve in leadership roles in the residence halls. Each residence hall has an RA assigned to each floor. The RAs work to create a sense of community within the residence halls through programming, helping students in need, and enforcing campus policies. 

What is a Residence Director?

Residence Directors (RD) supervise the RAs in the buildings they oversee. In addition to supervising the RAs, RDs also oversee the day-to-day operations of the residence halls by acting as a liaison to the maintenance staff to report maintenance problems; working with the Ministers-In-Residence program; and enforcing university and Residence Hall regulations. 

What size are the beds?

The standard university mattress is an extra-long twin that measures 36-by-80 inches. For extra comfort, students may want to bring foam egg crates or mattress covers.

May I bring a microwave oven and a refrigerator?

Students may bring one refrigerator per student but it must not exceed 4.5 cubic feet. Microwave ovens, however, are not permitted. Microwave ovens are available in residence hall lounges for student use. 

Will I be allowed to hang items on the walls?

Students are permitted to hang tasteful items on the walls of their room. However, they cannot cover more than 10% of the wall space (per state fire codes). There are to be no holes in the walls. We suggest using tacky clay to hang items.

What laundry facilities are available?

Each residence hall has a laundry area equipped with coin-free washers and dryers available for student use 24 hours a day.

Military veterans find a welcoming atmosphere on the St. Bonaventure campus, where 85% of our student population lives, studies, and plays.

Student Veterans of America

St. Bonaventure University has a local chapter of Student Veterans of America (SVA), a coalition of student veterans groups on college campuses across the globe. These member chapters are the "boots on the ground” that help veterans continue the mission, reintegrate into campus life, and succeed academically.

Each chapter must be an officially recognized student group by their university or college and provide a peer-to-peer network for veterans who are attending the school. Additionally, chapters often coordinate campus activities, provide pre-professional networking, and generally provide a touchstone for student veterans in higher education.

Student Veterans Lounge

St. Bonaventure offers a student lounge for veterans on the second floor of the Reilly Center, Room 221A. The Reilly Center, known as The RC, is one of the busiest buildings on campus. It houses the VISTA Veteran Coordinator [Room 235], the Office of Student Affairs [Room 205], the university's Division I Athletics programs, the campus bookstore and a cafe.

This lounge is equipped with a new computer and wireless printer, allowing veteran students to complete assignments in a setting that is set aside for them and their peers. In addition, a new 40-inch TV has been added to the lounge, along with a refrigerator, microwave oven and coffeemaker.

In addition, a plethora of brochures, information packets and resources are available in the lounge, along with a subscription to G.I. Jobs Magazine, in which educational and career information is found.
