Two female students walking about PompeiiIn early 2017, St. Bonaventure University faculty member Anna Bulszewicz partnered with academic coordinators at Sant’Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy, to create the Sorrento, Italy, Study Abroad Program for students at St. Bonaventure University.

Participating students have the ability to customize their experience abroad. Students can register for two courses and earn a total of six transferable college credits or apply for a customized internship experience. Note: Students who wish to earn college credits are required to take Bulszewicz’s Multimedia Communications Abroad course, and are also offered the Women's and Gender Studies course. The Sorrento, Italy, Study Abroad Program is a five-week international studies experience, for students of any major, with a focus on digital content creation, one of the most important skills regardless of industry. A mobile-learning approach provides students with a robust body of portfolio work, to be published on student media sites related to the Jandoli School of Communication and local Sorrento publications.

Earn 6 transferrable credits at Sant'Anna Institute

Sant'Anna Institute provides students with an unforgettable and rewarding international experience, delivered via topnotch academic programs that enrich your personal and cultural education.

This Special Topics program, "Women and Gender Studies and Marginalized Populations During an International Pandemic," will deliver a wealth of information during our global history's most unprecedented time.

You will earn six transferrable credits:
  • Multimedia Communication During a Pandemic
    This course transfers back as JMC 340. Broadcast Reporting (3 credits) or a general elective to satisfy your degree (any major).
  • Women’s & Gender Studies and Marginalized Populations During an International Pandemic
    This transfers back as WS 101. Women's Studies and can satisfy your degree under the diversity distribution or satisfy as a general elective (any major).

Cost includes courses, accommodations, tours & more 

The cost of the 2021 Summer Study in Sorrento program is $7,200 and includes accommodations, academic programming, guest lecturers, tours and more. The cost does not include airfare. For a payment schedule and deadlines, please visit our Acceptance, Cost & Payment site.

The Summer Study in Sorrento program includes:
  • tuition costs and academic credit (6 credit-hours) transfer
  • a luxurious shared apartment and cleaning staff. Learn about shared apartments at the Sant'Anna Institute's Housing website
  • a mobile lecture on the global pandemic with a scientist from Museo Arti Sanitarie
  • a virtual lecture with a BBC journalist
  • visits to an RAI-TV station, Pompeii, the U.S. Consulate in Sorrento, and Rome (with an optional weekend stay)
  • a tour of a coffee roasting factory
  • a private cooking class
  • private motorcoach transport and a private tour guide for all mobile lectures
  • motorcoach transport to and from the airport in Naples
