Atlantic Brass Quintet, whose musicianship has been called “impeccable” with an “irresistibly infectious spirit,” will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at St. Bonaventure University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.
This is the eighth and final presentation in the 2024-2025 performance season at the Quick Center.
Widely acclaimed as one of the world’s finest and most versatile brass chamber ensembles, the Atlantic Brass Quintet has performed in 48 U.S. states and dozens of countries across four continents. Atlantic specializes in masterful and vibrant presentations of repertoire spanning five centuries and a broad spectrum of styles, from artistic transcription of baroque music to the lively music of Balkan brass bands.
Winner of six international chamber music competitions, the quintet’s distinctive sound, impeccable ensemble, stunning virtuosity, and warm, inviting stage presence have won praise from scores of critics.
Highlights in the quintet’s busy concert career include performances at Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Fleet Boston Celebrity Series, Tanglewood, and the White House.
Their performance is presented in association with Southern Tier Symphony. The Quick Center galleries will open one hour before the performance and remain open through the intermission.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens and SBU employees, and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Quick Center at (716) 375-2494.
In addition to the performance, two free masterclasses will be offered: the Atlantic Brass Quintet will host a masterclass at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10 (all styles), and Jeff Scott, a Grammy Award-winning performer and composer, will host a masterclass at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, focusing on “Sermon for Saints and Sinners,” his composition written for the quintet (a collaboration with the poet AB Spellman about addiction).
