Gan delivers keynote address at Concerned Philosophers for Peace conference

Feb 26, 2021

Dr. Barry L. Gan, retired professor of philosophy, delivered the keynote address at the 33rd annual conference of Concerned Philosophers for Peace on Jan. 29.

The title of his address was "Peace and Hope in Dark Times," the theme of the conference. The conference was to have been held in Fresno, California, but due to COVID concerns was instead made available by Zoom. This made it possible for the conference to host participants from all over the world.

In previous years Gan had served as president and also as executive director of the organization. Three of its 33 annual conferences have been hosted by St. Bonaventure University.

Since its inception in 1981, Concerned Philosophers for Peace (CPP) has become the largest, most active organization of professional philosophers in North America involved in the analysis of the causes of war and prospects for peace.
