St. Bonaventure University’s Office of Veterans Services and Student Veterans Association invite the public to join them for two upcoming events that honor veterans.

On Monday, Nov. 11, a Veterans Day Ceremony will be held in the McGinley-Carney Center for Franciscan Ministry at the center of campus. Guests are invited to begin gathering at 12:20 p.m. for the program.

Then, on Thursday, the university will welcome combat Marine veteran and professional athlete Crystal Stokes to campus. She will give a public presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the amphitheater of the William F. Walsh Science Center.

Stokes joined the Marine Corps in 1998 and served 11 years, earning the rank of sergeant. She completed three tours, one in Kuwait and two in Iraq, and returned home with post-traumatic stress disorder and military sexual trauma. Stokes found ways to help cope with what she was going through: She has a black belt and is a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program instructor, rifle and pistol coach, a combat conditioning specialist, and played women’s professional football.
