St. Bonaventure University alumni in the Buffalo area put their passion into action last Friday by helping with the Huddle for Hunger contactless food drive at Bills Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.

Buffalo Bills Jim Kelly and 1999 Bona grad Donna Quigley at the Huddle for Hunger food drive at Bills StadiumPartnering with the Buffalo Bills, Independent Health and WIVB Channel 4, the group donned big smiles, face masks and warm gloves to collect food donations dropped off by Bills fans for FeedMore WNY.

More than 35 Bona alumni volunteered. Because of social-distance requirements, they were limited to 19 volunteers.

This effort is one of the many volunteer projects happening in Bona’s local alumni chapters. A similar event was held in August by the Albany alumni chapter. That group assisted the Greater Albany food bank (Regional Food Bank of the Northeast) in sorting food.

“Volunteering is one of the unique things that we can do in life to make a difference in our community while also giving ourselves purpose,” said Donna Quigley, who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at St. Bonaventure. “I can't think of a better way to feel fulfilled than volunteering, especially side-by-side with other like-minded Bona alumni.”

FeedMore of WNY (formerly known as the Food Bank of WNY and Meals on Wheels) helps provide nourishment and hope to Western New York community members in need. For more information, visit www.feedmorewny.org.
