Who is JCC+SBU for?
JCC+SBU is for students who are interested in earning a four-year degree at St. Bonaventure but who wish to begin their college studies at JCC. Students begin their enrollment at JCC and, after two years, transfer to St. Bonaventure University to complete their degree.
Where can I live?
A predefined number of students enrolling in JCC+SBU may reside on St. Bonaventure’s campus, at JCC’s main campus in Jamestown, or, in the case of local students, potentially live at home. Please be aware that your major may influence your residential options as some academic programs are not available at both JCC campuses in Olean and Jamestown. Available residential space on campus will determine the number of spaces open to JCC+SBU students.
What courses will transfer?
The JCC+SBU program is designed to provide academic advising for your time at JCC and St. Bonaventure simultaneously. Because of this, we will recommend courses that will transfer. For students who complete the associate’s degree (AA or AS) at JCC, 60 credit hours are guaranteed to transfer into SBU. Students must remain in good academic standing at JCC and have above a 2.25 cumulative GPA to transfer to St. Bonaventure. Please note: GPA requirements are higher for SBU’s teacher certification programs.
If I receive college credit in high school, will it transfer into this program?
Absolutely. Please click here for more information. You will need to work with academic advisors at both institutions to use most efficiently the credits you’ve earned.
Am I a St. Bonaventure student or a JCC student?
JCC+SBU students are officially enrolled at JCC, but you will be encouraged to meet with academic advisors at SBU.
What happens if I get sick on campus?
Health services for JCC+SBU students residing at St. Bonaventure will be provided on an emergency basis only. Standard care will be provided through JCC.
How does my meal plan work if I live at SBU?
JCC+SBU students must purchase a meal plan* each semester they reside at SBU from these options:
- an unlimited meal plan with $300 flex dollars at a rate of $3,099 per semester;
- an unlimited meal plan with $150 flex dollars at a rate of $2,949 per semester;
- an unlimited meal plan with $75 flex dollars per semester at a rate of $2,874 per semester;
- a block of 100 meals with $100 flex dollars at a rate of $755 per semester;
- a block of 150 meals with $100 flex dollars at a rate of $1,012 per semester.
*Rates are for the 2018-19 academic year.
Can I play a sport at St. Bonaventure while I start at JCC?
Unfortunately not. Due to NCAA and NJCAA regulations, you are only eligible to play at the campus you are enrolled. For example, if you want to play a collegiate sport at JCC, you would need to either commute from home or live on JCC’s campus.
Can I have a car on campus?
Yes, you can have a car on both campuses. Students must register their vehicle at SBU and pay a student parking fee to obtain a parking permit. No fee is charged for use of JCC’s parking lots.
Do I need a car to get between campuses?
No transportation will be provided between SBU and JCC’s Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses. Students residing within the Olean area (not on SBU’s campus) need to arrange their own transportation to campus. If a student is living at JCC’s Jamestown campus, transportation is not provided to SBU. Transportation may be arranged for larger special events.
How many credits do I need to take at JCC each semester?
The JCC+SBU program is designed to have students complete at least 12 credits a semester at JCC.
Will I get a St. Bonaventure ID card?
While enrolled full-time at JCC you may enroll, tuition-free, for a course at SBU. At that time, you will be issued an SBU ID. Until then, an SBU ID won’t be necessary.
How does my financial aid work as an incoming JCC+SBU student?
FAFSA application – list JCC’s six-digit federal school code (002869) within the FAFSA.TAP application – list JCC’s four-digit TAP school code (2085) within the TAP application.
How does the NYS Excelsior Scholarship program work with JCC+SBU?
During your time at JCC, the Excelsior Scholarship will be applied to your account. When you begin your enrollment at SBU, you will be awarded a 50% tuition discount.
