    TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that incredible things happen when we honor our inner spirit or, as I playfully like to call it, our inner weirdo. It’s not just what we learn, it’s what we bring to the experience of learning, how we connect that knowledge to who we uniquely are and who we want to be, not just “someday” but right now. I’m ever mindful in my teaching that the time I spend with students is relatively short, but the impact can be lifelong.
    CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS/PROJECTS
    PERSONAL INTERESTS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I am, at heart, a storyteller and humorist. I love writing and am a columnist for the Perry Herald and the Buffalo Spree. My columns can also be found on Substack; I am a board member for Shake on the Lake, a professional theatre company that specializes in performances to underserved rural communities. Based in Silver Lake, NY, Shake on the Lake hosts a full year of programming, including a Summer Shakespeare Tour, Winter Performances, and Educational Programming, including a storytelling series called The Nameless Club, of which I am a founding member. I have additionally worked to promote tourism in Wyoming County, particularly in and around Letchworth State Park, a place very close to my heart and that of my husband, Chip.

I am additionally employed as a full-time valet to an especially demanding orange cat named Fizz, along with an equally enthusiastic boxer named Hope.
