A center for campus media; a hub for innovation

The new media center is set to become a hub for campus news and content creation. The facility will bring all of the Jandoli School's student-run media outlets under one roof for the first time, fostering a new level of cross-media collaboration and innovation.

Key features of the new center include:
  • A high-definition broadcast studio for video production
  • Podcast and audio studios for on-air and digital content
  • A modern newsroom designed for creating multi-platform content
The center will house all of the university's media outlets, including WSBU-FM (campus radio), The Bona Venture (student newspaper), SBU-TV, and TAPinto Greater Olean (hyperlocal news site).
Beyond its production capabilities, the facility is designed to be a central gathering spot for students. It will feature an expanded First Amendment Lounge, an atrium, and dedicated meeting spaces, encouraging connection and collaboration.

Preparing for the future

Until the Henretta Communication Center opens, the Koop Broadcasting Lab will be temporarily located in De La Roche 20.

Led by journalism lecturer Anna Bulszewicz, an award-winning broadcast journalist, the Koop Lab will continue to provide students with hands-on experience in a fully functioning newsroom. Students will produce the weekly SBU-TV broadcast while also creating content for the website and social media channels — essential skills for today's evolving media landscape.
