Dr. Paula J. Scraba, O.S.F., associate professor of physical education, will present at the annual conference of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, to be held Nov. 17-20 at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

 

Scraba's presentation, "Legacy of Healthy Athletes: Harmony of Mind, Body and Spirit," will be co-presented with student officers of St. Bonaventure's Physical Activity Club and Special Olympics of New York.

 

The presentation will highlight how SBU's relationship with its athletes begins with promoting a holistic approach that incorporates fellowship, wellness and harmony of mind, body and spirit. Model "healthy athlete" programs highlighted will include a Fit 5 Challenge for athletes with disabilities and a partnership with a committee for diversity, equity and inclusion to present a student-athlete mental health panel.
