Dr. Christine Uhl, associate professor of mathematics, will be presenting about her joint work with Briana Foster-Greenwood (Cal Poly Pomona) on the metric dimension of generalized Hamming graphs, on May 6, at the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Seaway Section Spring 2023 meeting to be held at the University of Waterloo.

 

She will present the work from a preprint, which determines the metric dimension of the entire diagonal family of 3-dimensional generalized Hamming graphs. The approach is constructive and made possible by first characterizing resolving sets in terms of forbidden subgraphs of an auxiliary edge-colored hypergraph.
