Pi Mu Epsilon inducts nine into national mathematics honor society

On Thursday, April 20, two current students and seven alumni were inducted into the New York Omega Chapter of the Pi Mu Epsilon national mathematics honor society. Pi Mu Epsilon was founded in 1914 at Syracuse University. 

The New York Omega Chapter was founded in 1978. This year’s honorees are Theodore W. Bishop, '22; Alison M. Garlock, '21; Walter J. Kinder, '24; Erica M. Low, '22; Benjamin D. MacConnell, '22; Michael Makutonin, '20; Ethan S. McKeone, '20; Spencer L. Mummery, '20; and Theodore R. Murphey, '24.

Pictured above (from left) are the five honorees who were present for the induction: Theodore Murphey, Spencer Mummery, Erica Low, Walter Kinder, and Ethan McKeone. Mathematics faculty and the Dean of Arts and Sciences were also in attendance.

Honorees are chosen based on mathematical achievement and interest; they pledge to do their best to promote scholarship, especially in mathematics.
