Institutional Review Board (IRB) Information for Faculty
St. Bonaventure University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee established to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in research activities. If your research involves human subjects in any way, you need to consider IRB prior to collecting data. Their website contains charts to let you know what type of research requires a review. If you have never submitted an IRB application through SBU, you will need to complete online training, also available on their website, prior to submitting to the board.
You can find everything you need to know about how to submit a successful IRB application:
- First, watch this helpful video for tips on writing an excellent application the first time! The video was created by Dr. Suzanne Soltysik, who chairs the IRB.
- Then, visit the IRB's MySBU site.
- Click on the link on the top right column of the IRB page to begin your IRB application.
- You can also find links on this site to access required IRB training.
