PERSONAL INTERESTS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
- Has authored nine books and edited five others
- Has worked for the National Park Service giving tours of the Civil War battlefields at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania, as well as the building where Stonewall Jackson died
- Has authored numerous features and cover stories for Civil War Times, America's Civil War, Blue and Gray, and Hallowed Ground; other features have appeared in he magazines Northern Woodlands and America in WWII and on the blog Scholars & Rogues
- Has had six plays produced
