TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy on teaching is one of collaboration. I believe in providing students with real-world application-based examples and problems they will encounter in actual practice. My focus during class time is to facilitate conversation and encourage students to think critically and evaluate the subject matter in a way that goes beyond simply reading the textbook.

Students learn best when they are invested and have an active role in developing the content of the course. To that end I am always looking for student input and ways in which I can work their interests into the course.

I always try to help my students understand how the various disciplines of management, marketing, accounting and finance interact with each other on a frequent basis so they gain a true appreciation of each component of business operations.

The main reason I got into academics was to work with students, to help them succeed and be an adviser and advocate for their success in ways that my mentors advocated for me.
