St. Bonaventure University students in four undergraduate science programs are now eligible for direct admission to two master’s degree programs in engineering at Syracuse University.

The 4+2 articulation agreement between the two universities creates a streamlined pathway for students with non-engineering majors to earn a master’s degree at Syracuse University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.

SBU students earning a degree in Biology, Bioinformatics or Biochemistry can earn direct admission to Syracuse’s master’s program in Biomedical Engineering, provided they maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and receive a faculty recommendation.

SBU students earning a degree in Chemistry and meeting the same criteria are eligible for direct admission to Syracuse’s master’s program in Chemical Engineering. The agreement includes any St. Bonaventure student in those four majors, even those graduating next month.

“This partnership establishes a high-impact pathway for St. Bonaventure students to translate their scientific training into engineering-driven solutions in health, medicine and industry,” said Dr. Shikha Nangia, Milton and Ann Stevenson Endowed Professor of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering and chair of the Department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering at Syracuse.

“The structured 4+2 pathway into our MS programs in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering equips students with advanced technical skills and positions them for careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, biomedical innovation, and chemical process industries.”

The pathway includes a summer bridge course designed to prepare students from non-engineering backgrounds with the foundational engineering knowledge needed for graduate-level study, ensuring a smooth transition into advanced engineering programs.

“We’re grateful for Syracuse’s willingness to collaborate and excited about this new partnership, especially for our students who will have the opportunity to broaden their academic and career horizons at such a respected academic institution,” said Dr. Erin Sadlack, dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at St. Bonaventure.
