SBU's Voss speaks about how AI is transforming literacy education

Dr. Sheri B. Voss, assistant professor of Literacy, was a featured speaker at the National Literacy Institute (NLI) Conference in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 16, 2024.


Dr. Sheri B. Voss, assistant professor of Literacy, was a featured speaker at the National Literacy Institute (NLI) Conference in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 16, 2024.

Her session, "AI Meets Reading: Revolutionizing Literacy with the Science of Reading and Innovative Tools," explored how artificial intelligence is transforming literacy education by enhancing engagement, differentiation, and comprehension for learners of all backgrounds.

Voss, a leader in literacy instruction and AI integration, showcased tools such as ChatGPT, Diffit, and Hello History, demonstrating their role in fostering personalized learning and reducing teacher workload.

Her presentation built upon the latest research, emphasizing the intersection of AI and the science of reading to empower educators with strategies that drive student success. She offered educators practical insights on leveraging AI-powered strategies to improve comprehension and create engaging learning environments, and guidance on how to navigate these advancements with integrity and purpose.
