Juried Exhibitions for young artists

Juried art exhibitions for elementary, middle school and high school students from across the region are hosted by the Quick Center each academic year.

2023-2024 exhibitions

Elementary School (PK-Grade 5):
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, to Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024
Middle School (Grades 6-8):
Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, to Sunday, March 17, 2024
High School (Grades 9-12):
Tuesday, April 9, 2024, to Sunday, May 5, 2024

For each exhibition, entry guidelines and submission instructions are presented in detail below.

A panel of Quick Center judges will adjudicate each student's artwork and teachers will be notified of the winners. An opening reception, open to all winners and their families, will be at the start of each exhibition.

PLEASE NOTE:

All elementary school entries are to be submitted using our physical submission form.
All middle school and high school entries for each exhibition are to be submitted using our digital submission form.

Elementary School (PK-Grade 5) Juried Art Exhibition

Submission Deadline: 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023
Exhibition Opening: Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023
Exhibition Closing: Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024

Opening Night Christmas tree lighting & performance

The opening of the Elementary Juried Art Exhibition on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, will include the lighting of the university Christmas tree at 6 p.m., followed by a special evening performance of “Holiday Nutcracker Divertissements” by The Dancers Loft at 6:30 p.m.

Submit work by mail or in person to the QCA no later than 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023.
Each piece of artwork must have a completed entry form attached.
- All entries must be submitted with our physical submission form. Work without an entry form will not be accepted.
A panel of QCA judges will adjudicate each student's artwork.
- Winners will be announced in an email to teachers by Monday, Nov. 20, 2023.
An opening reception, open to all winners, their families and friends, will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023.

Middle School (Grades 6-8) Juried Art Exhibition

Submission Deadline: 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024
Exhibition Opening: Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024
Exhibition Closing: Sunday, March 17, 2024

Opening Reception

An Opening Reception, open to all winners, their families and friends, will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024.

3D works: 12 inches by 12 inches by 10 inches. All three-dimensional works will be out in the open, not necessarily in a case or under glass/plexi coverings.
2D works: 16 inches by 20 inches. Please matte or back mount smaller works to 16 inches by 20 inches for framing.
Works submitted that do not meet the size requirements will not be included in judging selection.
Works selected that arrive and do not meet the size requirements will not be displayed.

Digital submissions only
Please submit work to quick@sbu.edu no later than 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024.

High School (Grades 9-12) Juried Art Exhibition

Submission Deadline: 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024
Exhibition Opening: Tuesday, April 9, 2024
Exhibition Closing: Sunday, May 5, 2024

Opening Reception

An Opening Reception, open to all winners, their families and friends, will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Awards

“Best Of Category” prizes and St. Bonaventure University scholarships will be awarded.
Works will also be featured in a digital exhibition.

Digital submissions only
Please submit work to quick@sbu.edu no later than 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
Each piece of artwork must have a completed entry form. All entries must be submitted with our digital entry form. Work without an entry form will not be included in judging selection.
A panel of QCA judges will adjudicate each student's artwork. Winners will be announced in an email to teachers by Monday, March 11, 2024.
Works must be delivered to the Quick Center no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024. Selected works should arrive in hang-ready condition.
Two-dimensional works must hang with our hook-based system. (No nails or screws will be used. We reserve the right to alter and/or attach hardware in order to have work comply with our hanging system.)
Large or fragile three-dimensional works must be installed by the artist/teacher. (All three-dimensional works will be out in the open, not necessarily in a case or under glass/plexi coverings.

NOTE: Any works not following these guidelines, determined at the sole discretion of the Quick Center staff, will not be included in the exhibition.
