Fr. Larry Ford, O.F.M., named to Board of Trustees at St. Bonaventure

SBU Trustee Larry FordFr. Larry Ford, O.F.M., has been named to the Board of Trustees at St. Bonaventure University.

Trustees approved his appointment at their meeting in December in Boston.

Ford is the secretary of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the new province formed in October 2022 from six existing Franciscan provinces across the United States.

From 2009 until 2020, Ford served in various roles with the Holy Name of Jesus-St. Gregory the Great Parish in New York City, including pastor of a multicultural parish on the Upper West Side.

He was responsible for merging two parishes, closing two elementary schools (placing all students and faculty in new Catholic schools) and integrating a Franciscan Community Center into one new parish with a $3 million budget while retiring a $3 million debt.

Ford received his bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from Le Moyne College, a Master of Science in Administration from the University of Notre Dame and continued his doctoral studies at the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. He professed his first vows in 1991, his solemn vows in 1995, and received his presbyteral ordination in 1996.

Ford grew up in Olean and is the son of Sue and the late Larry Ford Sr., ’62, a beloved 32-year employee of St. Bonaventure to whom the Reilly Center Ticket Office was dedicated in December.
