Calabria continues talks on St. Francis and the Sultan

Fr. Michael Calabria, O.F.M., Ph.D., director of the Center for Arab & Islamic Studies at St. Bonaventure, continues to give presentations commemorating the 800th anniversary of St. Francis' meeting with the Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil in 1219.

Fr. Michael gave a presentation on Nov. 21 at Viterbo University, La Crosse, Wisconsin, titled: "St. Francis and the Sultan: an Encounter of Faith and Culture for a Divided World." And on Nov. 23, at the Franciscan Pilgrimage Program meeting in Chicago, he gave a presentation titled: "The Age of St. Francis and the Sultan: Cultural Confluences in the Medieval."

Fr. Michael serves as special assistant for dialogue with Islam for the Order of Friars Minor.
