Five essays by Mark Phillips, retired teacher and tutor with St. Bonaventure's Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program, have been published in print and online editions of Notre Dame Magazine.
His “Out of the Dark” and “What I’m Reading: The Summer Book, Tove Jansson” are in small part about SBU students. His “The Longest Kiss” is about the passage of time; “Speak, Water,” about his long
and inconclusive search for “the Word” in nature; and “The Stories of Names,” about forms of hope attached to names of ancestors or the landscape.
