Orientation at SBU
Orientation is an opportunity to learn about all things Bonaventure, from the interesting classes you'll be taking to the fun and rewarding clubs and organization you can join. It also marks the start of new friendships that you will cherish the rest of your life.
Separate Orientation programs are conducted for each of the three groups of new Bonnies arriving on campus each year:
- Fall transfer students
- Students arriving at the start of the spring semester in January
In-person sessions and an online-only session will be held in July.
All incoming freshmen are strongly encouraged to attend one of the summer orientation sessions. To register for one of the sessions listed below, click on the REGISTER NOW button.
Our apologies, but Session 1 (July 12-13) and Session 3 (July 15-16) are full. Remaining sessions include:
- Session 2: July 14 (Online only)
For students who live too far away from campus to attend an in-person session
- Session 4: July 19-20
- Session 5: July 22-23
Each student may attend with TWO PARENTS/GUESTS
Each student attending orientation may be accompanied by no more that TWO GUESTS.
Please Note: The two-guest allowance is new. Early in the Orientation registration process we were able to accommodate only one parent/guest per student due to COVID-19 safety protocols. New protocols now allow us to increase the guest limit to two. If you registered for an Orientation session when the limit was one guest per student (prior to about June 1) and wish to increase your guest count from one to two, please let us know by emailing us at email@example.com.
Each two-day Orientation session begins in the morning of Day 1 and concludes after lunch on Day 2. Tentative schedules for for students and their guests are linked below:
A note about COVID-19 safeguards
St. Bonaventure University has successfully navigated COVID-19 health and safety guidelines while offering residential, in-person classes for the past year. That care and diligence allow us to offer our traditional, in-person, on-campus, overnight orientation experience this summer.
Our priority remains the health and safety of our community. If we need to adjust the Orientation schedule due to social distancing and on-campus density guidelines, we will communicate with you regarding alternative plans. Our primary goal is to ensure the safest way for you to become a Bonnie!
Fall & January transfer student Orientation
All incoming transfer students must attend orientation prior to the start of the semester. Participants will have the opportunity explore the academic, social and residential aspects of campus life. Family members are welcome to attend.
