Think you'll miss home cooking? Maybe not. Hickey Dining Hall serves up traditional American cuisine, authentic ethnic dishes, healthy options, five-star meals and monthly specials including festive theme meals, right here on campus.

In addition to Hickey Dining Hall, conveniently located near all residence halls on the main campus, Dining Services operates the Reilly Center Café, Café La Verna, the Rathskeller, Freshens Café, and the Library POD in Friedsam Memorial Library, ensuring that students can satisfy those cravings just about anywhere on campus, any time of the day, and deep into the night.

All undergraduate students living in Devereux, Doyle, Falconio, Francis, Loughlen, Robinson and Shay halls are required to carry a Bona Platinum, Bona Gold, or Bona Silver meal plan. Meal plans for students living in on-campus townhouses and apartments, and for students living off campus, are also available.

Any student living in a residence hall — including graduate students — must purchase one of the following meal plans: Platinum All-Access, Gold All-Access and Silver All-Access.
Residence hall freshmen and transfer students will be assigned the Gold All-Access plan but can change to either of the other two All-Access plans through the student housing portal.
Returning residence hall students — sophomore through graduate student — will be assigned the Platinum All-Access plan, but can change to either of the other two All-Access plans through the student housing portal.
Returning undergraduate or graduate students living in a campus Townhouse or Garden Apartment will be assigned the Block 80 meal plan, but can choose any of the All-Access meal plans, a lower Block plan, or opt to choose no meal plan through the student housing portal.
Off-campus and commuter students will be assigned the Block 25 meal plan, but can choose a different meal or Block plan, or opt to choose no meal plan.
Graduate students living off campus will not be auto-enrolled in any plan, but are welcome to choose one.

To sign up for a meal plan, or change a meal plan, students must fill out the Meal Plan form by logging into my.sbu, and clicking on Student Life, then Residence Life, then the Housing and Meal Plan portal. The last date to change a meal plan for the semester is Friday of the second week of classes for that semester.

Students with documented medical issues who wish to request a meal plan modification or exemption must submit a Housing Accommodation request to the Accessibility Services and Accommodations office. Requests for the Fall semester should be completed by March 1st. Requests for the Spring semester should be completed by November 1st. A renewal for this request must be submitted each year.

Before a meal plan modification or exemption can be considered by the DHAC, the student must meet with the SBU dining staff to discuss options. SBU dining will make every effort to accommodate dining and dietary needs.
