Men's baseball competes in the Colonial Club Baseball Association (CCBA). The team can roster up to 30 players per year. Tryouts are held each fall.

Games are played in the fall and spring against conference and nonconference teams. Overall, the team plays about 12 conference games each season, with two to three practices per week.

Home games are played at Fred Handler Park, the university's all-turf baseball complex. The team travels to the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas to compete as well.

Men's basketball competes during the winter and early spring in the North Atlantic Region North Conference of the National Club Basketball Association. The team travels to the Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo areas to compete against other conference teams.

The team can roster up to 18 players per year.

Practices and games are held at the Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center, our fitness center on campus. 

Men's golf competes in the fall and spring at different tournaments around New York state through the National Collegiate Club Golf Association.

The team can roster up to 12 players per year.

Practices take place at the St. Bonaventure Golf Course, right across the street from campus.

Founded in the early '70s, the men's club ice hockey program was one of the first club sports established and has been a staple at St. Bonaventure University for over 50 years. St. Bonaventure currently has two men's ice hockey teams. Our top team is a proud member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II. Our second team is a proud member of AAU College Hockey Division II. Our hockey program has a strong culture of brotherhood, tying in our Franciscan values of compassion, wisdom, and integrity. 

Our ACHA team practices on the ice three times per week, has team gym sessions twice a week, as well as weekly video sessions.

Our AAU team practices on the ice twice a week, has one team gym session per week, and does video as well. Each team roster can accommodate 30 players per year.

Our home games are played at the William O. Smith Recreation Center in Olean, NY -- located just 4 miles from campus. Our program is incredibly supported by both the university and alumni.

The men’s club lacrosse team competes in Empire West DII of the National College Lacrosse League.

The team begins practicing at the start of the academic year and typically begins its season in the fall, with the majority of games played in March and April.

The team encourages both experienced players and individuals with a desire to learn to be part of the team.

The men's club soccer team competes in Region 1, Lake Erie/Ontario Division, of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association.


The team practices during the week and plays games on weekends during the fall semester. Games are played on our grass field as well as on our state-of-the-art turf field, with lights for nighttime contests, at the Marra Athletics Fields Complex on campus.

The women’s club soccer team is a group of women who share a love for soccer and want to dedicate time to the sport during their college career.

The team competes in Region I, Western New York Division, of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association's Club Soccer League. The team practices during the week and plays games on weekends during the fall semester.

Year in and year out, women’s club soccer stresses the importance of teamwork, respect and responsibility, and strives to give back to the local community throughout the year. 

The women's club softball team participates in the National Club Softball Association as a part of the New England-West Conference.  

The team competes in nonconference and conference games, with the opportunity to compete for a conference, regional and national title each year. 

Our players have access to premier facilities including Joyce Field, the university's newly renovated, all-turf softball complex, where home games are played. Players also have access to weight training facilities in the Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center, the university's fitness center. 

Becoming a member of the club softball team not only gives you the opportunity to continue your career as a competitive athlete, but also the chance to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Year round, the importance of working together and being a part of a team is stressed while you continue to work on all aspects of your game. 

Women’s club volleyball participates in the Northeast Women's Volleyball Club League, competing in the NWVCL Blue Division.

The team competes, on average, in about 6 tournaments throughout the academic year, including both fall and spring semesters.

We welcome all students, with or without volleyball experience, to participate.

St. Bonaventure University's club bowling team is a USBC Collegiate-certified team that competes in USBC tournaments against other teams from around the East Coast.

A team consists of up to eight bowlers, but this doesn't mean only eight students can participate. There is an opportunity to create additional squads if there is enough interest. 

The team bowls in tournaments on certain weekends during a season that lasts from October to March. The team practices at local bowling alleys and assists with local youth bowling leagues.

The club field hockey team competes against other university club teams in Western and Central New York in the fall semester. The team typically practices twice a week during the season and games are held on the weekend. The club encourages both experienced players and individuals with a desire to learn to be part of the team.

The club tennis team competes against other university club teams in Western and Central New York in the fall and spring semesters. The team typically practices twice a week on the outdoor tennis courts located on campus while matches are held on the weekend. The club encourages both experienced players and individuals with a desire to learn to be part of the team. Tennis racquets and tennis balls can be borrowed from the Richter Center if students do not have their own.

St. Bonaventure's varsity esports teams compete in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

SBU student-gamers have the opportunity to hone their skills in the ECAC against other regionally located member schools.

Throughout the course of the regular season, our teams compete in conference play with the goal of posting a winning record in order to qualify for playoffs. Ultimately, our teams strive to win divisional, conference and grand finals championships.

Level up in SBU's cutting-edge Game Room

The varsity esports teams have a dedicated gaming space on the second floor of the university's Reilly Center. Known as The Game Room, the space underwent a stunning transformation that was unveiled in March 2025. 

The esports area features:

• State-of-the-art gaming setup for SBU competition teams and general student play
• 5 high-performance competition PCs located on a "Battle Ramp" as well as 12 general-use computers
• Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch consoles for general gaming 
• Two massive LED walls showcasing gaming action and video footage 

All are available and free for any student to use.

There are varsity team practices and matches for Fortnite, Rainbow 6: Siege and Marvel Rivals.

Practices consist of video on demand (VOD) reviewing of professional players, detailed mechanical analysis and instruction, scrimmages against other schools, and occasional weightlifting and cardio workouts in the university's Richter Center fitness facility.

The badminton club welcomes anyone interested in playing the sport. The club plays inside the Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center, our fitness center on campus. The group finds common times that students can practice together and play internal tournaments on campus. The Richter Center has all of the equipment needed to play that students can borrow.

The Open Runs Basketball Club is for students who are looking to play pick-up basketball games in the Richter Recreation Center. The group has the courts reserved on certain days and times, and any student is welcome to play.

The running club is intended for students who enjoy running and wish to continue running at a non- or semi-competitive level, or who wish to run with a group to stay in shape.

The running club gives students of all experience levels the opportunity to run with a group. Besides meeting a couple times a week for group runs, the club participates in the annual St. Bonaventure Family Weekend fun run/walk, and other local and Buffalo-area 5K and half-marathon races. 

The spikeball club is open to all students who want to learn/play the great game of spikeball. The club plays outside during the warm months and can play inside the Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center, our fitness center on campus, during the winter. The Richter Center has several spikeball sets that can be borrowed for play.
