A new series of podcasts featuring faculty and staff from St. Bonaventure’s online graduate programs provides listeners with creative and out-of-the-box advice to help them succeed in their next career move.
The podcasts — dubbed the SBU MasterCast and available for free on SoundCloud — feature faculty and staff from the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) and Strategic Leadership graduate programs.
From interviewing some of rock-and-roll’s most famous artists to working with Fortune 500 companies, the individuals featured on the SBU MasterCast discuss their professional skills, offering real-life content and advice.
The SBU MasterCast is produced by Synapse Matters, a student-run consultancy at St. Bonaventure that specializes in marketing, advertising and public relations.
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to interview these professors,” said Andrew Bevevino, a student in Synapse Matters and host of the SBU MasterCast. “They have great and interesting real-world experience that listeners will find relatable and inspirational. They’ve done important things, and they have important things to say.”
Through hearing about the experiences of the individuals on the MasterCast, listeners will be provided with stories and advice that will help them navigate the professional world, but the series is not built purely to inform.
“I recently interviewed Dr. Rich Lee, the director of the IMC Program, about his experience interviewing iconic musicians like members of the Grateful Dead and Steven Tyler,” said Bevevino, a junior strategic communications and digital media major from Warren, Pa. “That’s what’s great about this series. It’s not simply informational. It’s entertaining, too.”
In addition to Lee’s podcast about the art of interviewing rock stars and politicians, available content includes Kimberly DeSimone, who discusses the importance of building your personal brand and having a strong digital/social media presence; and Dr. Kimberly Young, who discusses cultivating leadership and her workforce leadership experiences.
The SBU MasterCast is released weekly on Tuesdays. You can find the latest episodes of the MasterCast by going to www.soundcloud.com/SBU-mastercast.
