    TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Learning is personal. It evokes feelings of vulnerability. Learning requires not-knowing (if you knew it, there’d be no reason to learn it).

My teaching philosophy might best be summed up with the term humanistic-experiential andragogy. Humanistic exemplifies the personal, learner-centered nature of learning; experiential embodies the active nature of learning; and andragogy characterizes the value the learner brings to the learning environment.

In my teaching, I try to demonstrate the parallel process between adult learning and counseling and between counseling and supervision: each requires an acceptance of the need for change. People experience growth and change when they are oriented toward such, are willing to take some action. I see my role as evoking this orientation.
