A new book by Dr. Chad Luke, associate professor of counselor education, serves as a guide for professionals working to help those struggling with substance use issues.

“Substance Use and Misuse: A Helper’s Guide to Neuroscience-based Treatment” equips helping professionals with the knowledge needed to work effectively with individuals who misuse substances and also underscores the skills and attitudes necessary to be successful with clients struggling with misuse.

The book is a guide to addressing the intensely complicated neurobiology underlining substance use disorders. It walks readers through the science and art of addiction and its treatment.
