Branco presents at conference, serves as Tik Tok debate expert

Mar 16, 2022

Dr. Susan Branco, assistant professor of counselor education, along with Dr. Whitney Swann, former SBU counselor education faculty member, and students (in alphabetical order) Nana Aomori, Sarah Karges, Lizzie O'Leary, and Jaclyn Whoberry collaborated to present "Moving Towards an Anti-Racist Curriculum: Student and Counselor Educator Advocacy," at the Counselor Education and Distance Learning Conference sponsored by Palo Alto University.

The presentation was prerecorded and shared live with a Q and A session with conference participants.

Branco noted feedback on the presentation included these comments: "Impressive students;" "Students were very well spoken;" "Excellent work;" and "What an amazing group of professionals."

Additionally, Branco was a featured expert for Business Insider on the subject of TikTok as a means to glean transracial adoptive parenting guidance (spoiler alert: not the best idea).

The other featured expert, Anthony Hynes, is Branco's colleague and friend. Both serve as steering members for the Society of Adopted Professionals of Color (SAPCA). https://www.insider.com/white-...
