    PERSONAL INTERESTS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
     
    • Council Member, Western New York Developmental Disabilities Service Office, Family Support Services, Consumer Council (1994-2009).  Served as Chairperson from 1997-2001. Responsible for Region II (Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Allegany Counties).  Member 1994-2009.
    • Board Member, Cattaraugus County Community Services Board  (2001-2007).  Board is responsible for oversight of various Cattaraugus County departments such as the Department of Aging and Department of Mental Health.   
    • Chairperson, Cattaraugus County, Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee (1997-2007). Elected chairperson in 2000.   
    • President, Forney Foundation in Olean, NY (1998-present). Organization’s goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. Current project is fundraising to purchase recreation equipment for disabled individuals to be placed in public parks in the Olean area.  Elected president in 2003.
    • Central Referral Service’s Developmental Disability Advisory Committee in Buffalo, N.Y. (1998-present). Purpose is to create a seven-county developmental disability database and later to evaluate and improve its service.
    • Area Coordinator, New York State Special Olympics, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, (2006-2007); treasurer (2005-2006); coach (2003-present).
    • Down Syndrome Parent Support Group of Cattaraugus County (1985-2000).  Group president 1985-1987.
