Dr. Swagata Banik, dean and professor in the DePerro School of Health Professions, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Western New York Rural Area Health Education Center (WNY R-AHEC).

The center is a federally funded program that builds networks between academic institutions and communities to address local health needs by developing and training a diverse health care workforce, especially for rural and underserved populations.

Its mission is to improve the quality of health care in our region through workforce development, education and resources.
