St. Bonaventure career center teams up with JCPenney to help students dress for success

Sep 09, 2019

St. Bonaventure University’s Career and Professional Readiness Center (CPRC) is teaming up with JCPenney for two events aimed at helping students dress for success.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, JCPenney senior staff will present a Dress for Success Seminar at 11:30 a.m. in

Room 109 of the William E. and Ann L. Swan Business Center. SBU students are invited to hear from JCPenney’s senior staff as they share everything students need to know about dressing for a career fair, interview or on the job.

Then, on Sunday, Sept. 15, a Suit-Up Event at the JCPenney store at the Olean Center Mall will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Those attending will receive discounts on business apparel, a free Sephora makeover and sample and salon services. Anyone affiliated with St. Bonaventure (students, employees, parents, alumni) are invited.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our students to be a part of this national event,” said CPRC Director Pamela Ferman. “Partnering with JCPenney allows our students to have access to professional dress at a specific discount rate beyond traditional sales. We see many times where students do not have the means to go out and purchase a new suit or outfit for an interview or networking event. This makes the items much more affordable.”

The Sept. 10 event is part of the CPRC’s Competitive Edge Certificate program. Students do not need to be enrolled in the Edge program to participate.
