I am a social constructivist at heart. As such, I view my role is to serve as the facilitator of learning experiences. I encourage peer discussion and collaboration and include a variety of learning theories into my teaching practice. My current classroom is designed to model best practices for future and current educators. I seek to foster students' understanding of concepts by applying learning science pedagogy to both instructional design and curriculum development. I value teaching and learning rooted in real-world situations and critical reflection resulting in a continuous process of improvement.

I aim to be flexible and provide differing supports based on neurodiversities and the diversity of learning needs often present in a classroom, ensuring all students have access to equitable learning opportunities. As a former social studies educator, I feel that democracy must be experienced in the classroom to ensure that teaching and learning is truly transformational. I emphasize core practices like respect, student choice, a growth mindset, and practices that respect our unique attributes as people, unconditionally.
