Apr 06, 2025
Dr. Sheri B. Voss, assistant professor of Literacy, was elected vice president of the New York State Reading Association (NYSRA) in March.
This four-year term follows a leadership progression culminating in the presidency.
NYSRA, the New York state affiliate of the International Literacy Association (ILA), works through a network of regional councils to foster collaboration among educators and enhance literacy education for people of all ages.
St. Bonaventure sits within NYSRA's Niagara Frontier Reading Council (NFRC), which was awarded the 2025 ILA Honor Award for exceptional service to literacy and the community.
The annual NYSRA conference comes to Buffalo for the first time this year, said Voss, a member of the conference board. The conference will be held Nov. 9-11 at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott in Amherst, New York.
St. Bonaventure's B-12 Literacy program adheres to ILA standards for the preparation of literacy professionals, underscoring the School of Education's commitment to excellence in educator preparation and accreditation, Voss said.
