Joseph Hoag has joined the Office of Advancement at St. Bonaventure University as a major gifts officer, the University announced today.
Hoag most recently served as national accounts manager of diocesan solutions for Cathedral Corporation in Rome, N.Y., and prior to this served more than 10 years as director of stewardship and development for the Diocese of Erie in Erie, Pa. He holds more than two decades’ experience in fundraising and donor relations.
“We are excited to have Joe on staff as he brings an extensive background in development and has specific expertise in working with diocesan-related institutions,” said Mary Driscoll, vice president of University Advancement. “I am confident he will be a key player in cultivating new relationships with our alumni and in promoting the University’s mission.”
Hoag’s responsibilities include fundraising in Western Pennsylvania and in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
When asked what it means to be part of the Advancement division at St. Bonaventure, Hoag said, “During my interview process, Mary Driscoll referred to the people I met as members of the Advancement team. After just a few weeks with the University, I do feel ‘team’ is the appropriate term for describing the group rather than a division. The dedicated people of the team are committed to St. Bonaventure, and I look forward to learning from them and working with them. Most of my career in fundraising has been spent working independently, and I can honestly say that I am honored and excited to now be a part of this team.”
Hoag, a resident of Erie, Pa., is a graduate of Gannon University. He and his wife, Mary Beth, have been married 25 years and have four daughters.
