ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — After two years as admissions communications coordinator at St. Bonaventure University, Clarence Picard has joined the Department of Annual Giving Programs as a gift officer. Prior to joining the St. Bonaventure staff, Picard served as associate editor for Western New York Heritage Magazine, a non-profit magazine covering culture and history in Western New York. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication with a minor in history from St. Bonaventure in 2005 and has coached men’s rugby since 2006.
As the rugby coach, Picard has guided the team to numerous league championships and playoff appearances and has recruited dozens of players in the past seven years. Last season, Picard led the Bonnies to the Empire Rugby Conference title and to the national Elite Eight.
Picard joins Annual Giving at a crucial time. As St. Bonaventure celebrates the 125th anniversary of The Bonaventure Fund, Picard’s understanding of and experience with the university will be important. “I’m very excited to take on this new position as a part of The Bonaventure Fund team,” Picard said. “It will be a tremendous opportunity to help strengthen the university as a whole and work with my fellow St. Bonaventure alumni on a regular basis.” This new position will put Picard in direct contact with alumni and donors who are members of the Devereux Giving Society and the 1858 Society. His efforts will work in conjunction with that of the Annual Giving department to reach the unrestricted goals of The Bonaventure Fund.
“I am honored to have Clarence join the Annual Giving team,” said Julie Briggs Cunningham, executive director of Annual Giving Programs. “He brings to the table an extensive knowledge of St. Bonaventure and will be an excellent addition.”
