Heather Lynn Harris, associate professor at the Jandoli School of Communication, is pleased to present “Once Upon a Sketch,” a solo exhibition at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Opening Sept. 21, the show offers a behind-the-scenes look at how picture books come to life — from early sketches to finished illustrations. Drawing from both fine art and illustration, Harris shares original character designs, storyboards, color studies and final spreads from her published books.

The exhibition highlights the creative process, showing how stories are shaped through imagination, revision and visual storytelling. “Once Upon a Sketch” invites viewers of all ages — and especially students, artists and writers — to explore how pictures and words work together to tell powerful stories.
