John Stevens, senior lecturer in the Management Department, School of Business, was one of the main speakers at the annual Southern Tier Leadership Summit on Aug. 7 at the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College. The event was attended by more than 90 leaders and managers from Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

Stevens presented alongside his daughter, Dr. Brittany Thierman, assistant professor of Marketing at Alfred University. The presentation focused on how leaders can bring magic to their organizations and customers.

The four principles they discussed were:

1. Hire for Heart, Train for Skill
2. Operationalize the Magic
3. Create “Wow” Moments for Employees and Customers
4. Continually Improve

They highlighted examples of how Disney World in Florida brings magic to employees and customers.
