Dr. Daekyun Oh, assistant professor of Physical Education, co-authored an article in the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education (JTPE).
The article, titled “What Makes Preservice Teachers Learning Effective? Unveiling Characteristics of Practice-Based Teacher Education,” examined meaningful teaching and learning characteristics that facilitate preservice teachers’ (e.g., college students) learning about a pedagogical model in their teacher preparation program. JTPE is a Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) journal and is ranked among the top-tier outlets for scholarly research in physical education teacher education (classified as Q1 within the education category).
Oh also presented research at the 2025 AIESEP International Conference, held May 18-22 in Tampa, Florida. His presentation, “Possibilities of Implementing Humanities-Oriented Physical Education (HOPE) in the U.S.: Teacher Educator’s Perspective through Self-Study,” explored the experience and perception of a teacher educator who taught HOPE to physical education preservice teachers. During the symposium presentation, Oh provided insights, implications, and study limitations. AIESEP is the Association Internationale des Écoles Supérieures d'Éducation Physique.
