In service of its mission to ready students for post-graduate success and teach hands-on skills, the Literary Publishing and Editing program inaugurated its Professionals Series in the fall of 2024.

Novelist and university press editor
Jennifer Savran Kelley kicked things off with a lively discussion of the publishing industry and writing life with LPE students.
In the spring, printmaker Jamie Alea visited ENG 328: Small Press Publishing & Editing. In a series of workshops, he walked students through the fundamentals of using a tabletop letterpress and shared a portfolio of concert posters made while interning at Hatch Show Print, the iconic Nashville printshop. Following Alea’s visit, teams of students designed and printer their own broadsides (sample shown at right). They will be on exhibit in the Writers & Publishers Room (Plassmann) through the next academic year.
