St. Bonaventure’s men’s and women’s rugby teams will be competing in the Collegiate Rugby Championship National 7s tournaments this weekend at the Maryland SoccerPlex near Washington, D.C.

The men will be competing in the 32-team Premier Cup bracket, opening with Marian at 10:40 a.m. Friday. The men were the national 15s championship runner-up in December.

The women, who just made the jump to Division I after winning the small-college national 15s championship in December, will compete in the 16-team Division I Club bracket. They open with Oregon at 11:40 a.m. Saturday.

All games in the stadium and Field 12 will be streamed on The Rugby Network. Games on Fields 9, 10 and 13 will be streamed on NCR’s YouTube page.

Teams will be dropped to consolation brackets after losses. The men will play three times Friday and twice more Saturday. The women will play twice Saturday and twice on Sunday.

“This is the biggest collegiate rugby 7s tournament, so we are looking forward to an awesome, rugby-filled weekend,” said Meredith Pyke, coach of the women’s team.

Tickets can be purchased on the NCR website. Fans can download the NCR app to make it easier to follow the tournaments.
