St. Bonaventure adds concentration in AI to its Computer Science program

Mar 14, 2024 Artificial intelligence

Computer Science majors at St. Bonaventure University will be able to take a concentration in Artificial Intelligence beginning this fall.

Students choosing that track will take courses in machine learning, AI and robotics, and data science. They will also take Computers, Society and Ethics (CS-241), a required course for all Computer Science majors that has an entire section on large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT.

The new AI concentration is in addition to existing Computer Science tracks in Software Engineering and Big Data, and Networks and System Administration.

“This new concentration wouldn’t have been possible without the initiative of Dr. Chris Bopp, who heads our Data Science program, and Dr. Zahmeeth Sakkaff, our machine learning specialist,” said Dr. Anne Foerst, chair of the Department of Computer Science.
