Six Bonnies named to NCR’s small-college All-American rugby team

Ramsey, Nentarz, Coach Pyke, Lamar, Middaugh and Reid after their all-stars tourney in Texas.The honors keep coming for the national champion St. Bonaventure women’s rugby team.

The Bonnies, who defeated Wisconsin-Platteville for the 2023 National Collegiate Rugby small-college national title in December, had six players named Thursday to the NCR small-college All-American team.

Abbey Beres, Kaylee Middaugh, Makenna Ramsey, Ashlee Reid, Natalie Lamar and Jaylei Wagstaff were selected; the Bonnies had the most All-Americans of any college in the nation.

Ramsey, a graduate student, is an All-American for the second straight year.

Ramsey, Reid, Middaugh, Lamar and Kyla Nentarz were selected for the Upstate New York Collegiate Rugby Conference All-Star team that finished third in the Division I Women’s 7s National Cup Jan. 20-21 at Austin, Texas. Lamar played for the small-college UNYCRC All-Star team that finished fourth.

Ramsey (four tries) and Lamar (five tries) were named to their respective all-tournament teams.

The UNYCRC all-star teams, called the Snow Leopards, were coached by St. Bonaventure’s Meredith Pyke.
