Spencer named executive director of Student Success Center at SBU

Adriane SpencerAdriane Spencer has been named executive director of St. Bonaventure University’s Student Success Center, Dr. David Hilmey, interim provost, announced today.

Spencer, who has worked at SBU since 2007, replaces Chris Brown, who left July 7 for a position at Bucknell.

“Adriane is an outstanding addition to our academic leadership team at Bona’s,” Hilmey said. “I have worked with her in several capacities and her deep commitment, excellence, and compassion will help her step into this position and continue to lead the great work in our Student Success Center. I can’t imagine someone better suited for the job.”

Spencer has earned from St. Bonaventure a bachelor’s degree in elementary education (2002) and master’s degrees in advanced inclusive processes (2004) and educational leadership (2010).

After three years as a special education teacher at Fillmore Central School, Spencer was named coordinator of SBU’s Disability Support Services in 2007. In 2017, she was named director of Accessibility Services and Accommodations, and in 2022 she was named director of Accessibility Services and Academic Support.

Five programs or offices sit under the umbrella of the Student Success Center, which is housed in Plassmann Hall: tutoring and academic support, first-year programs, Accessibility Services and Academic Support, International Student Services and study abroad, and the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).
