Voss presents on AI-driven literacy instruction at state, national conferences

Apr 22, 2026

Dr. Sheri B. Voss, professor of Literacy and director of the SHARP Reading Hub, presented at the New York State Reading Association (NYSRA) Conference in Buffalo, New York, and the National Literacy Institute (NLI) in Houston, Texas, where she was a featured speaker in pre-conference and mega conference sessions. Voss also serves as vice president of the reading association.

At NYSRA, Voss led “The AI Literacy Lab: Scaffolding Tools to Elevate Reading and Writing Instruction,” an interactive session that engaged educators in exploring how artificial intelligence can support literacy instruction through research-based practices. At NLI, her presentation, “From Struggling to Soaring: Transforming Reading Literacy Instruction with Hands-On Agency & AI-Powered Differentiation,” focused on how educators can leverage AI to promote student agency while supporting equitable and differentiated literacy learning.

At both venues, Voss engaged educators and literacy leaders through demonstration-based sessions, highlighting the use of AI tools to support teachers in maintaining grade-level rigor while adapting instruction to meet diverse learner needs and increasing student engagement. Her state and national presentations reflect St. Bonaventure’s commitment to advancing literacy leadership through innovation, research-based practice, and meaningful integration of emerging technologies in education.
