Zhang and students advance plant immunity research

Xiao-Ning ZhangDr. Xiao-Ning Zhang's research project titled “A splicing regulator, SR45, suppresses plant immunity by regulating salicylic acid pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana” was published in Frontiers in Plant Science on Oct. 30. Seven SBU undergraduate students and one high school student were involved in the project. External collaborators include Dr. Hua Lu's lab at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Dr. Bret Cooper's lab at the USDA Agricultural Research Service. This project survived two government shutdowns and one pandemic. It was supported by National Science Foundation award 1923069, an SBU Worden Award and university Biology Research Funds.
