Dr. Jeffrey Allen, chair of the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences, presented his collaborative research, “The Direct and Indirect Effects of Food Insecurity and Variable U.S. Feeding Program Support During the COVID Pandemic on Members of a Low-income, Rural Obesogenic County,” at the New York State Association for Rural Health annual symposium in Geneva, New York, Sept. 17.

This research is a collaboration with Dr. Suzanne Soltysik, clinical associate professor of Nursing, focused on the first-person experiences of food insecure Cattaraugus County residents before the COVID-19 pandemic, during the enhanced nutrition/unemployment benefit period, and after the enhanced nutrition spending expired.
