Notre Dame Magazine has republished an essay by Mark Phillips, retired tutor and teacher with the St. Bonaventure Higher Education Opportunity Program.
His “The Honorable Thing to Do” was first published 40 years ago in a print edition of Notre Dame Magazine; it now appears on the magazine’s website. The essay is about his ill-fated donation of a kidney to his sister — and what she taught him. It can be read here:
