Dr. Pamina Abkowitz, Dr. Anne-Claire Fisher and Dr. Rene' Hauser (left to right above) delivered presentations at the 42nd annual national conference of the American Council on Rural Special Education. 

 

Fisher, associate professor and director of the inclusive special education program, and Abkowitz, assistant professor of childhood education, discussed teacher candidates' understanding of the construct of diversity in a presentation titled "It's Complicated — Understanding Power and Diversity in Rural Spaces." 

 

Hauser, associate professor and dean of the School of Education, presented "Dropout Prevention in Rural Schools: Research-Based Strategies."

 

Abkowitz also served as the conference program chair.
