Connie Perkins, Ph.D., RN, CNE, and Tom Buttafarro, director of government and community relations at St. Bonaventure, accompanied Master's Entry to Practice nursing students to the Olean offices of two state representatives on Feb. 17 to lobby for
legislation affecting nurses.
The group met with state Senator George Borello and state Assemblyman Joseph Giglio to urge their support for legislation in support of simulation-based learning, improved workplace safety for nurses, Regents Scholarships and loan forgiveness
for nurses, and more scholarships for nursing at private colleges and universities.
Their messages were well received and the group represented the nursing profession and St. Bonaventure University well, Perkins said.
